Supporting teachers is easier when you can see their planning. MySchool gives heads of department and school leadership a clear view of every lesson plan — where it sits in the curriculum, which objectives it covers, how the lesson went — and a simple way to rate it and give feedback that the teacher sees straight away.
There are two ways in, depending on your role:
- Heads of department review their own department's teachers from the department page.
- Principals and administrators review every teacher in the school from Lesson plan review.
Reviewing is read-only: you rate and comment, and the plan's content stays exactly as the teacher wrote it.
For heads of department
- Open your department from My Classrooms (or My Department).
- On the Members tab, each teacher shows when they Last submitted a plan. Select a teacher to see their submitted lesson plans.
- Select a plan to open it. It opens with a REVIEW badge; every tab is read-only except Feedback.
- On the Feedback tab, give your HOD rating (1–5 stars) and choose Save rating.
- Add a comment in the discussion thread and choose Publish. The teacher can reply on their own Feedback tab.
Your department page also has a Curriculum tab, so the curricula you're reviewing against are one click away.
For principals and administrators
Open Lesson plan review
Choose Lesson plan review in the main menu. The screen shows every teacher's plans for the period you pick.
- Use the year and term filters at the top (or All years / All terms).
- The Teachers list on the left shows each teacher with their number of plans, how many are submitted and rated, and when they last submitted. Choose Whole school to see everyone at once.
- Filter the plans by All, Submitted or Drafts, and search by title.
Review a plan
Select a plan to open it in the review panel:
- Plan — where the lesson sits in the curriculum (unit, topic, sub-topic), the subject, class, dates and department, and the attachments.
- Objectives — the curriculum objectives the teacher ticked, with their status (Planned, Covered, Carried forward), and the objectives as the teacher wrote them.
- Content — the main content of the lesson.
- Evaluation — the teacher's own evaluation and post-lesson reflection: whether the lesson was completed, the plan of action, objectives covered, students who grasped it, attendance, the 4 Cs and comments.
- Feedback — your rating and the discussion.
Rate and give feedback
- On the Feedback tab, choose a star rating under Your rating, add a note if you like, and choose Save rating.
- Write a comment in the Discussion and choose Post. The teacher is notified and can reply.
Go to the teacher's classroom
Switch from Lesson plans to Classrooms to see the selected teacher's classes for the period. From there, or from Open in teacher portal in the review panel, you can open the class's lesson plans, classwork, grades, attendance or members in the teacher portal — for example to help a teacher edit a plan.
Review curriculum coverage
Ratings tell you about a lesson; the course outline tells you about the course. For any class, the outline shows each unit's percentage covered and each objective's status, so you can see at a glance whether a class is on pace for the term — and which objectives have been carried forward and need picking up.
- Open the class's Lesson Plan tab and switch to Outline (from the department page, or via Open in teacher portal).
- Look for units with a low percentage covered late in their term, and objectives marked Carried forward.
- Use Print to take a copy to a department meeting.
Common questions
Can I edit a teacher's plan from the review panel?
No — review is read-only so a plan always reflects the teacher's own work. Use Open in teacher portal if you need to help them make a change.
Why don't I see a teacher's draft plans on the department page?
The department page shows submitted plans. Principals and administrators can include drafts in Lesson plan review with the Drafts filter.
Does my rating replace the teacher's own rating?
No. The teacher's self-evaluation rating and your review rating are kept separately.
