Introducing Our New Modern and Responsive Marksheet and Column Management UI

As part of our ongoing efforts to modernize and enhance the user experience, we’re excited to introduce our updated UI for inserting marksheets, adding columns, and modifying existing columns. This evolution represents a significant step forward from our legacy Ext.NET Web Forms design to a more responsive, mobile-friendly, and user-centric interface.

What’s New?

1. Streamlined Insert Marksheet Modal:
   Our new "Insert Marksheet" modal has been carefully restructured to give you a clean, intuitive form. The fields are clearly labeled, spacing and styling are optimized for readability, and conditional logic ensures that only relevant fields are enabled based on your selections—such as differentiating between Home Room and Mix Class scenarios.

   Key Improvements:

   • Responsive Layout: Works seamlessly across desktops, tablets, and mobile devices.
   • Conditional Requirements:
     • In Home Room mode, Class ID is required and enabled.
     • In Mix Class mode, Class ID is disabled, allowing you to generate a new class name dynamically from the backend logic.
   • Easier Clearing and Selection:
     Clear buttons next to dropdowns and text fields let you reset your selections effortlessly.

2. Enhanced Insert Column and Modify Column Forms:
   We’ve similarly updated the "Insert Column" and "Modify Column" modals. The forms are visually cleaner, with a consistent look and feel across all UI elements. Clear and concise labels, a well-organized layout, and helpful placeholders guide you through inputting or updating column details.

   Key Improvements:

   • Clean, Focused Layout: Fields such as Date, Title, Component, Category, and Points are logically grouped for quick scanning.
   • Responsive Design: The forms remain easy to use, even on smaller screens.
   • Immediate Field Validation: Required fields and length restrictions are enforced right within the UI, reducing submission errors.

3. Modern Tab Integration for Markbook:
   After creating or modifying a marksheet, our system dynamically adds a new tab to your tab panel. This tab, loaded via an iframe, displays the relevant marks data without needing a full page refresh. The new approach leverages modern client-side logic, providing a smoother and more interactive experience.

   What This Means for You:

   • Instantly see newly created marksheets in a new tab without navigating away from your current context.
   • Enjoy consistent iconography and clear tab titles, ensuring you always know which subject or class you’re working with.

Why This Change?

• Mobile & Tablet Friendly:
  As more users access our application on various devices, a responsive UI ensures everyone can easily manage their marksheets and columns regardless of screen size.

• Reduced Complexity:
  By moving away from older Ext.NET Web Forms and gradually introducing modern, client-side logic, we’re simplifying the codebase. This shift makes it easier for us to deliver new features, fix issues more rapidly, and improve overall performance.

• Enhanced User Experience:
  The UI now guides you visually, making it clearer when fields need input, when selections are mandatory, and how certain conditions affect which fields appear. You’ll spend less time guessing what’s required and more time completing your tasks efficiently.

Impact on Existing Workflows

While the underlying logic remains similar—creating marksheets, adding columns, and modifying columns—the updated UI may look and feel different. However, the functionalities you rely on are still present, now delivered through a cleaner and more intuitive interface.

  Users can continue their existing workflows without learning a completely new process. The forms are self-explanatory, and small text hints have been provided where necessary.
