Introducing Video Conferencing in MySchool Jamaica

We are thrilled to announce the integration of a powerful video conferencing feature into the MySchool Jamaica platform! This new addition enhances virtual teaching and learning, offering a seamless way for teachers and students to interact in real time.

How to Use the Video Conferencing Feature

Creating a Meeting Link

1. Accessing the Video Conference Option:

   • Click the context menu (three vertical dots) for your classroom and select the "Video Conference" option.
   • Alternatively, click the video icon on the classroom card to open the Video Conference window.

2. Creating the Link:

   • In the Video Conference window, click the "Create Meeting Link" button.
   • Toggle the "Make Visible to Participants" switch to ON.
   • Click the Save button to confirm your changes.

Once saved, the meeting link will be shared with all students in the classroom and visible on their dashboards.

Starting a Meeting

• As the teacher, you will be the moderator and have complete control over the meeting.
• Students cannot join the live class until you start the meeting.

Ending a Meeting

• To ensure discipline and prevent misuse, always wait until all students have left the meeting before you leave. Alternatively, use the "End Meeting for All" feature to close the session.

We chose Jitsi, an open-source video conferencing tool, as the backbone for this feature. By leveraging Jitsi, we’ve integrated the following capabilities:
