We are excited to announce a significant enhancement to the Gradebook: the Qualitative Comments Matrix. This new feature is designed to make entering subjective, skills-based scores faster, more intuitive, and less overwhelming for teachers.
What's New?
Previously, entering qualitative scores required teachers to navigate a wide, spreadsheet-like grid with many columns. While functional, this could be cumbersome, especially when dealing with multiple subjects and comments.
The new Qualitative Comments Matrix replaces this wide grid with a focused, user-friendly modal window. All comments and scoring options are now neatly organized in a single, clean interface, allowing you to focus on one student at a time.
Key Benefits
- Improved Efficiency: Quickly enter scores for all of a student's subjects from one screen without horizontal scrolling.
- Focused Workflow: The two-panel layout lets you easily switch between students in a class while keeping the scoring matrix in clear view.
- Intuitive Interface: Simply click the score you wish to assign. Selected scores are clearly highlighted.
- Fully Responsive: The matrix works beautifully on any device. On mobile, it intelligently adapts to a single-panel view for easy navigation.
How to Access the Matrix
Getting to the new feature is simple.
- Navigate to the main Gradebook view where you normally see your list of subjects and classes.
- In the toolbar at the top of the screen, click the new [MATRIX] button.
Using the Feature
Once you open the matrix, the workflow is straightforward:
- Select a Class: Use the dropdown at the top of the left panel to choose the class you want to work on.
- Select a Student: A list of students for that class will appear. Click on a student's name to load their specific comment sheet in the right panel.
- Enter Scores: For each comment, simply click the button corresponding to the score you wish to assign. The button's description will appear as a tooltip if you hover over it.
- Save Your Work: Once you have finished entering scores for a student, click the Update Gradesheet button to save. The scores will be instantly reflected in the main gradebook.
You can continue this process for every student in the class without ever leaving the pop-up window. We believe this new tool will save you valuable time and make the process of recording qualitative assessments much more pleasant.
