Welcome to the new Teacher Attendance feature in the MySchool App! This guide will walk you through the steps to get started with using this feature, replacing the manual sign-in book with a more efficient digital system.
Requirements
- Device: Each school needs a mobile device, preferably an Android tablet, which will be placed in the teachers' lounge or staffroom.
- App Installation: Ensure the MySchool App is installed on the device.
Step 1: Create an Attendance Admin Account
Before teachers can start using the attendance feature, an attendance admin account must be created to set up the clock-in interface on the fixed device.
1. Log in to MySchool Jamaica:

- Visit myschooljamaica.com and log in as an administrator.
2. Create Admin Account:

- Go to Manage > User Accounts.
- Click Add.
- Select Attendance as the User Type.
- Enter 'Admin' for UserID.
- Fill in the required fields (date, email address) and set a password (recommended to be numeric for ease of use).
Step 2: Set Up the Fixed Device
1. Launch the MySchool App on the Android tablet.
2. Log in:

- Set User Type to Attendance.
- Enter the UserID and Password for the attendance admin account.
3. Access Attendance Interface:

- Click on Mark Teacher Attendance.
- Enter the password again to access the secure area.
- The device is now ready for teachers to use for clocking in and out.
Step 3: Setting Up Teacher Attendance PIN
Each teacher needs a TeacherID (or UserID) and a 4-digit attendance PIN to use the attendance system.
- Log in to the Web Application:
- Teachers should log in to the MySchool Jamaica web application.
- Set Attendance PIN:
- Click on your profile name in the upper right of the header.
- Select Profile from the menu.
- Enter your attendance PIN (must be numeric) and click Update Profile.
- If unsure of the default PIN, contact your system administrator or our support team.
Step 4: Using the Attendance Feature
- Clocking In and Out:
- On the fixed device, teachers will need to enter their TeacherID and attendance PIN to clock in or out.
- Self-Attendance:
- Teachers can also clock in using their own mobile devices if the school has defined the coordinates and they are within a 100m radius of the school compound.
- Open the MySchool App, log in, and select Self Attendance.
- The app will log the time and snap a photo.
Synchronizing Data
- Automatic Sync: The app stores attendance information locally and syncs it to the server once an active internet connection is available.
- Manual Sync: Administrators should periodically monitor the device to ensure data syncs properly. The attendance admin menu includes a sync option to manually upload data to the server.
